Practice procedures in a lifelike environment again and again via the award-winning

‘HapticVR’ PC system or the ‘@HomeVR‘ variant used on standalone devices.

All with one single user login.

The benefits of surgical simulation are well documented; by providing medical professionals with more hands-on experience you have better prepared individuals, resulting in better patient outcomes.

The problem is cost. Cadaveric training is expensive and not always practical and with simulations the capital investment is often heavy – as a result access for most surgeons is rare. Fundamental Surgery is a self proctoring, data rich, multiuser and remote Virtual Reality education platform accredited and adopted by leading clinical institutions.

The Fundamental Surgery platform provides two modalities of learning; the ‘HapticVR‘ PC platform and also ‘@HomeVR‘ using an untethered standalone headset such as the Oculus Quest or HTC Vive Focus Plus.

Welcome to the future – democratised surgical simulation!

FundamentalVR launches joint development agreement with The Mayo Clinic for surgical VR simulation and education products.

Our mission at FundamentalVR is to give you access to the best simulations on a day-to-day basis.

We believe that every surgeon should have the opportunity to rehearse, practice and test themselves within a safe, controllable space that is as close to real life as possible and is within an arm’s reach of their workplace.

Fundamental Surgery is a multimodal software platform that takes advantage of readily available virtual reality hardware – tethered and standalone.

The ‘HapticVR’ modality combines cutting edge haptics (the sense of touch) with immersive VR to create a simulation system that can be used on a modern PC set up, even a laptop. The ‘@HomeVR’ modality uses standalone headsets that are readily available, to allow training to happen anywhere. Both with one single user view.

The result is a simulation system that requires a low-cost hardware investment and a simple ongoing licence fee.

The system’s simulations are focused on the Orthopedic specialism but will quickly move into areas including Laparoscopic, General Surgery, Cardiovascular and Otolaryngology (ENT).

Dual modality means flexibility to use the platform wherever you want. A single user login means wherever you use it your training record will always be up to date. Flexible and scalable.

Fundamental Surgery uses the latest high definition graphics and virtual reality techniques combined with the sense of touch to deliver a ‘feel real’ experience.

Users each have their own unique log in and throughout each of the simulations their performance is assessed and measured with the system providing realtime feedback on instrument use, procedural accuracy and patient impact.

Each tissue texture and physical property has been mapped into the virtual space to provide the user with a unique learning experience.

A chance to practice and test yourself with different patient or surgical scenarios. Within each simulation you will have the opportunity to select or be served randomized changes which allow you to try situations that you may rarely face.
